RETROGRADE COFFEE TABLE
Our first piece of furniture made entirely of our new MetaMATERIAL, a raw composite resin developed to engage with pattern and move our work beyond the confines of a mold.
The concept for Retrograde, a patterned material with a reversible colorway, is based on a process of experimentation, chance, and play. We begin by casting resin into simple shapes, circles, squares, and line. Then cut, arrange and re-cast these pieces within two layers of resin, to create a unique, unexpected and dual-toned material. The resonance of the disconnected repeating shapes creates a visual tension within the piece that is both entrancing and unnerving.
The intersecting structure of the table echoes the process of cutting and re-arranging the MetaMATERIAL. Unique patterns emerge as the eye moves around the piece; edge and surface combine to create new vocabularies of shape, pattern and dimensionality.
This design is fully customizable and we look forward to making a custom MetaMATERIAL piece for you.
