I say ‘anew’ advisedly as the marriage of object and idea is an old one - shells as currency, bread as the divine, a ring as betrothal. The difference between the ancient and the contemporary iteration of this marriage is not only the prospective sophistication and range of the ideas and objects involved, but also systematic application and purposeful manipulation. — Damon Crane

Our California Table is a sculptural exploration of the intersection between natural and human-made beauty in the California landscape. Constructed from an interplay of translucent and opaque resin planes, geometric forms, and wedges, the table brings together intricate grids and playful arrangements of positive and negative space. These elements intersect and gather organically across its multifaceted structure, creating a composition of gem-toned translucencies and deep, vivid opaque accents.

The design draws inspiration from California’s agricultural grids and the experimental sensibilities of the Light and Space movement. Light travels through the resin’s edges, revealing shifting layers of color and geometry. Its subtle glow evokes the hazy boundaries between land and sky across California’s expansive, flattened landscapes, translating the region’s distinctive interplay of light, material, and terrain into a functional sculptural object.
