SU OFFSITE:

BLACK MAGIC COLLECTION

In 2017 we launched our first collection of resin vessels titled the Black Magic Collection, at Sight Unseen’s OFFSITE show in New York. The collection was a group of 12 vessels, our large Papua planter, and our Tikal and Escalante nesting tables. The flower arrangements were beautifully designed by METAFLORA.

Each Black Magic Vessel is a time-based experiment that works to capture the fluid nature of the different resins we work with as we cast them using our unique, rotating molds. As we cut away portions of the resin to create the fractal shapes of the vessels, the individual layers of the resin are revealed creating the organic patterns that wrap around them.

“Further along were LA-based Elyse Graham’s kaleidoscopic vases, cast in resin and sanded down to reveal a psychedelic medley of colors. Part of her Black Magic range, Graham tends to work intuitively, experimenting and feeling as she goes along. At the fair she said she named each of her vessels after a place, and while sometimes she creates with a specific place or ambience in mind, more often than not, the places are simply revealed to her.” — Annette Lin
